2010 Santana 20 Class Championships Hosted by Fleet 12 and Fresno Yacht Club July 19-22, 2010

Team Disaster Area, skippered by Bruce Golison (Long Beach, CA) and crewed by Andrew Kerr (Olympia, WA) and Willem van Waay (San Diego, CA) have won the 2010 Santana 20 Class Championships!
Going into the 7th and final race, Team Disaster Area led Team Giddy Up (skippered by Ron Fish of Eugene, OR) by 13 points however with no throw out provided, simply being OCS could easily alter the outcome of the regatta. Team Disaster Area won the race, securing their victory with a splash of authority.
Leading up to this regatta, the winds had been not been "typical" Huntington Lake but Bruce reports that it was like someone flipped a switch as the championships were classical "sail to the boy scout camp and work the left shore" conditions.
This victory is Bruce's 4th championship title, Andrew's 6th, and Willem's 2nd (once as skipper and once as crew).
This makes Bruce's second major regatta victory in less than two months - having won the 2010 Etchells North American Championships in San Diego.

Regatta Documents and Notes
PRE REGATTA NOTES
Fleet 12 is pleased to invite the Santana 20 class for superb
sailing on majestic Huntington Lake, CA at the 2010 Class Championships July
19 thru 22 - immediately following the High Sierra Regatta.
Huntington Lake is located in the High Sierra Mountains of California at 7,000 ft near Fresno. Huntington Lake is known for its breeze which you can set your watch to - 10-15 knots starting at 10am. The location offers accommodations at nearby campgrounds or lakeside cabins -- there is something for everyone.
The Championships immediately follow the High Sierra Regatta (July 17-18) so that you can tune up prior to the championships and enjoy 6 days of sailing and racing – or take some time and explore the surrounding mountains and wilderness.
Make your campground reservations early - reservations for the championship dates open July 1, 2009!
To reserve go to www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-677. We strongly recommend College Creek, Deer Creek, Kinnikinnik, Rancheria, Catavee, or Billy Creek Campgrounds. College and Deer Creek are closest to the fun and action (red star on the map of the attached flyer).
For full listing of local accommodations (condos, cabins, camping), visit Fresno Yacht Club's website or click here.
